Seizure Prepared U
Your campus can demonstrate their commitment to reducing stigma, improving accessbility and keeping students safe.
Watch the video to learn more about the program.
Your school can follow our 3-step process to receiving your Epilepsy Friendly School Seal.
The SEAL demonstrates to others - current students, potential students, faculty, and the community - that YOUR school has made a commitment to Seizure Safety.
Step 1: Training
The first step in having your campus become a Seizure Prepared U Friendly campus is TRAINING.
This training is focused on Seizure Recognition and Response on the college campus.
This OnDemand training is available 24/7 and will take approximately 45 minutes to complete.
We recommend as a first step that YOU take the training. This will provide you first-hand experience with the training before you ask others to take it too!
After you take the training, we will work with you to determine the best training plan for your campus, including:
- Who should take the training?
- When should the training take place?
- If in-person and/or a virtual live training (if available) would work for your campus.
Schedule time for your 1-1 consultation with Epilepsy Alliance America here.
Note: Each person who completes the training will receive a Certificate of Completion.
Step 2: Seizure Recognition and Response Signage
In addition to working with your school's representative to determine WHO should be trained in Seizure Recognition and Response, we will provide POSTERS for you regarding Seizure Response. We will work with you to determine where on campus they should be placed.
We can provide printed materials to you, or you can print and download the materials yourself.
Step 3: Become an Epilepsy Friendly Campus
Schools who commit to training a minimum of 20 key leaders on their campus, in addition the resident directors and assistants, and displaying Seizure Response signage in a minimum of 3 key locations, will receive the designation of being an Epilepsy Friendly Campus.
We will work with you to determine who on your campus should be trained. Key leaders should come from Health Services, Disability Services, Campus Safety, Athletics Department and Residence Life. Key locations for the signage placement can include: dining halls, athletic/fitness facilities, health center or counseling center, library, campus ministry, Greek life and the student union.
Upon verification of the trainings and placements, Epilepsy Alliance America will provide a SEAL to the school which can be added to the school's website.
Schools that achieve the distinction of Epilepsy Friendly Campus that want to do more can work with us to receive an Epilepsy Seal of Distinction. We will work with the administration to customize the next level of distinction.
