Second Annual Member Organization Meeting

Forty-seven staff and volunteer leaders from thirteen of the member organizations of Epilepsy Alliance America came together in Charlotte, NC on March 18 -20, 2024 for the second annual Member Organization Meeting of Epilepsy Alliance America.
Recognition
We had the opportunity to celebrate and recognize important accomplishments over the last year. We welcomed Liza Gundell, CEO of Epilepsy Services of New Jersey, as our new board chair and celebrated and honored the work done during Peggy Beem Jelley's tenure as board chair - most notably, securing our CDC grant. We acknowledged the impact of our partnership with Public School Works as a platform for our On Demand Seizure Recognition and Response Training. This effort was spearheaded by Allison Rone of Epilepsy Alliance Ohio and resulted in 131,836 additional individuals taking our training in 2024! Special acknowledgement was provided to our marketing partners at DeanHouston, led by our founding board member, Dale Dean, for their work to elevate the profile of Epilepsy Alliance America since our inception.
New Brand Strategy
One exciting part of this year's meeting was the opportunity to unveil Epilepsy Alliance America's new mission, vision, and purpose statements.
With these statements as our guidance, board and staff members worked together to chart the future of Epilepsy Alliance America, refining key initiatives and priorities. We are a national community, building local solutions for people impacted by epilepsy!
Learning, Professional Development, & Networking
Learning sessions were led by peers and like-minded professionals and included topics such as patient assistance programs, client engagement, epilepsy and bullying, water safety, social media marketing techniques, fundraising, and public speaking. In between sessions, attendees had opportunities to connect and network, whether at the welcoming reception or over group meals.
