Epilepsy Alliance America Board of Directors: Call for Nominations

Epilepsy Alliance America is seeking nominations for individuals to serve on our Board of Directors.

We are committed to building a Board that reflects a broad range of perspectives, lived experiences, and professional expertise. This is an exciting opportunity to help shape the future of a national organization dedicated to improving the lives of people living with epilepsy through education, advocacy, awareness, and support.

About the Opportunity

Board members are elected to three-year terms and will begin service on January 1, 2027.

We welcome nominations from across the epilepsy community, including—but not limited to:

  • Patient advocates
  • Nonprofit leaders
  • Clinicians and healthcare professionals
  • Caregivers and family members
  • Individuals with lived experience

Experience with an Epilepsy Alliance America member organization is helpful, but not required.

We strongly encourage nominations from individuals of diverse backgrounds, including differences in:

  • Race and ethnicity
  • Sexual orientation and gender identity
  • Geography
  • Professional experience

We are particularly interested in candidates who can help strengthen our organization’s governance, sustainability, and national impact.


Board Member Expectations

Board members play a vital role in advancing our mission. Responsibilities include:

  • Participating in bimonthly Board meetings (6 per year, held via videoconference)
  • Reviewing materials in advance of meetings
  • Serving on at least one committee or task force
  • Attending at least one in-person meeting annually (Member Organization Meeting)*
  • Making a personal financial contribution to Epilepsy Alliance America
  • Helping to open doors and make introductions to potential member organizations, partners, funders, and donors

*Travel expenses for in-person meetings are not guaranteed to be reimbursed. Virtual participation options are available when needed.


Nomination Process

To be considered, nominees must submit:

  • A current resume or CV (maximum 3 pages)
  • A brief statement describing:
    • Interest in serving on the Board
    • The perspective and/or expertise the nominee would bring
