Partners Against Mortality in Epilepsy (PAME) Meeting
Epilepsy Alliance America representatives attended the Partners Against Mortality in Epilepsy (PAME) meeting in Atlanta, GA on Thursday, December 4, 2025. The conference focused on improving understanding and prevention of epilepsy-related mortality, including discussions on Sudden Unexpected Death in Epilepsy (SUDEP). The agenda included interactive panels discussions on grief and strategies for reducing risks associated with epilepsy. Epilepsy Alliance America representatives from patient advocacy groups, Empowering People’s Independence, Epilepsy Alliance Louisiana, Epilepsy Advocacy Network and Epilepsy Services of New Jersey, welcomed the opportunity to come together with healthcare providers, researchers, advocates and families affected by epilepsy.

American Epilepsy Society Annual Meeting
Epilepsy Alliance America hosted two booths at the AES Expo. One booth was for Epilepsy Alliance America, featuring the work of both the national organization as well as the member organizations. The other booth featured the Seizure Action Plan Coalition, managed by Epilepsy Alliance America. This coalition has more than 85 patient advocacy groups as awareness partners and is gearing up for Seizure Action Plan Awareness Week which will kickoff on February 9, 2026.
Amanda Mitchell, Executive Director of Epilepsy Alliance Louisiana, and a Board member of Epilepsy Alliance America, spoke passionately about how her personal experience as mom to her son, Jack, who lives with epilepsy, has fueled her professional work at Epilepsy Alliance Louisiana at the UPLIFT reception on Friday evening. On Saturday evening, Amanda was part of the panel at the National Plan for Epilepsy presentation. She serves on the National Plan for Epilepsy Committee as a representative of the Epilepsy Leadership Council.
Saturday morning, Epilepsy Alliance America’s National Professional Advisory Committee held their annual in-person meeting. This group provides expertise to the Board of Directors as well as guidance on our annual program priorities.
