Congratulations the winners of the 2025 Lorna Myers Scholarship!

Congratulations to the 2025 Lorna Myers PNES Scholarship Recipients!

Thanks to the continued generosity of Dr. Lorna Myers, Epilepsy Alliance America has a scholarship program for students with a diagnosis of psychogenic non-epileptic seizures (PNES).

In May 2025, Epilepsy Alliance America awarded 10 scholarships for a total amount of $14,250. In the last five years, Epilepsy Alliance America has provided support to 42 students in over 20 states.

These one-time awards were based on the quality of applications through a competitive scoring system that balanced need with achievements. The Scholarship Review committee was faced with the daunting challenge of reviewing applications from students across the country.

We awarded scholarships to students in Ohio, Kentucky, Texas, Wisconsin, New York, Pennsylvania, California, and Maryland. While most of our scholarship recipients were high school seniors approaching their first-year of college, we also had non-traditional aged students apply and receive funding. This included a student majoring in Biomedical Engineering and creating adaptive solutions for individuals impacted by PNES, as well as someone who has overcome homelessness and setbacks due to Multiple Sclerosis to pursue a double major in Psychology and the Arts.

Acknowledgements
Thank you again to Dr. Lorna Myers who donates the royalties of her book, PSYCHOGENIC NON-EPILEPTIC SEIZURES: A GUIDE, to Epilepsy Alliance America, making these scholarships possible. The Scholarship Review Committee is led by Patricia Gibson, Epilepsy Alliance America board member, as well as national leaders in the field of Functional Seizures / PNES.
