Water Safety Training: NEW On-Demand Module |
People with epilepsy have a significantly increased risk of drowning compared to the general population. Water activities can be fun, healthy, and inclusive for people with epilepsy, but they require extra planning and awareness. This short training will help you understand how to reduce risk, respond safely, and support seizure‑smart choices around water. Who should take this training? This training is meant to be taken by people with epilepsy, their family members, caregivers and friends. It can also be helpful for camp counselors, lifeguards, physical education teachers, and anyone else who is responsible for supporting individuals with seizures in and around water. If you or someone you love has a diagnosis of Psychogenic Non Epileptic Seizures (PNES), we are proud to announce a new support group, moderated by clinicians and advocates with expertise in PNES, including Dr. Lorna Myers, author of Psychogenic Non Epileptic Seizures: A Guide.
Starting October 22, this monthly virtual support group will be a safe place for those experiencing PNES and will feature a rotating PNES-related topic and informal discussion. Save the date and register here. |
