Issue 47: SUDEP Action Day 2025

SUDEP Action Day

Hope Begins with a Conversation

Today is SUDEP Action Day, and we’re joining partners from around the world to raise awareness about SUDEP (Sudden Unexpected Death in Epilepsy).

This year’s theme, Hope Begins with a Conversation, empowers all of us to talk openly about SUDEP risks and prevention. Every conversation can be a step toward safety, understanding, and hope.

Conversations with Providers

People living with epilepsy, and their families, deserve clear, compassionate information about SUDEP and epilepsy-related risks. Awareness leads to informed choices and safer lives.

It is important to talk to your physician about your risk of SUDEP.

Download information about next steps if your doctor determines your child is at either Low Risk or Increased Risk.

Talking about SUDEP isn't frightening; it’s a vital step toward safety and understanding.

Conversations with College Students

Real Talk - Navigating College with Epileps

Real Talk: Navigating College with Epilepsy is a student-focused guide designed to support young adults living with epilepsy as they transition to campus life.

Developed by Epilepsy Alliance America in collaboration with Paul’s Purple Warriors and Seizure Prepared U, this resource covers SUDEP risk reduction, mental health, seizure safety planning, and essential conversations with roommates, campus staff, and healthcare providers.

With practical tips, dorm safety checklists, and tools for self-advocacy, it empowers students to stay safe, informed, and connected throughout their college journey.
